Meeting his Boon Companions While strolling through the jungle, Sam thought of what had happened to him in the past few days. Leaving his mother probably had been the hardest part. However, it was for his mother’s happiness that he was going anyway. She had insisted upon his going to avenge his father after Old Wise had visited their house. Then he also remembered what Old Wise had told him. He was a boy of adventure, and this journey was a major part of it. He was very -BANG! Something smacked him right in the face. As Sam turned around, he could make out a fuzzy brown creature before everything went black. As Sam opened his eyes, he was taken aback. Cobwebs draped down from the ceiling to the ground. There was no lighting; the only trace of light was from the dusty window. The smell was what really surprised him. It smelled so good in here! He expected a place like this to be smelly, but instead it smelled like lavender and honey. He spied a plate that had some rice and vegetables, and a small bowl of curry. A cup of tea finished of the dazzling array of food. â€Å"Finally you’ve woken up,† a chiming voice startled Sam’s inspection. To his surprise, he saw a monkey. Michelangelo was one of the most famousartists of the Italian Renaissance. Michelangelos specialty was painting the human body unclothed. Inorder to learn to paint the human body so well he would dissect human corpses. His artistic talents were noticed at a very early age. Michelangelo went tostudy with Domenico Ghirlandago, who taught him about painting. He then went onto work with Donatello to learn about sculpture. Between the years of 1490-1492Michelangelo lived in the house of Lorenzo de Medici and was influenced byNeoplatonic thought. Some of Michelangelos early painting showed the influenceof Giotto and Masaccio. Also many of his early sculptures show the influence ofDonatello(Columbia University Press) . Michelangelos artistic career can be divided into two periods. In theearly period he focused on realism. During this early period Michelangelosworks included the Pieta and the David. Michelangelo was able to accomplishthis enormous job in such a short amount of time because of his desire to finishthe tomb(Janson 359). The walls of the Sistine Chapel were painted twenty five years prior tothe painting of the ceiling. One of the walls in the chapel told the story ofMoses, and the other wall told the story of Jesus Christ. Michelangelo used thesubjects of the paintings on the walls to determine the subject of his frescos,there remained only one subject he could use to complete the two precedingones, that is the story of humanity(Tolnay 41). The ceiling is made up of scenes from the bible. Michelangelo took thetext of the bible and painted it on the ceiling the way he interpreted it. According to Robert S.
